Why Study Perfumery?

A passion for fragrance is the guiding thread of the school’s teaching. Whether it’s philosophy, chemistry, sustainability, marketing, or composition, every subject serves as a way to describe, understand, and analyze perfumes and olfactory processes.

To turn this passion into a powerful professional asset, the school’s curriculum is structured around key milestones, each linked to well-defined professional skills: analyzing, sensing and expressing, creating, and managing.

The educational approach of École Supérieure du Parfum & de la Cosmétique is firmly focused on the professional integration of its students. This is why our program is constantly reassessed to ensure it remains perfectly aligned with the expectations of the industry.

Our programs have been carefully designed with a clear educational objective: to allow all students passionate about the fragrance industry—whether they come from a scientific background or not, but who demonstrate strong motivation and dedication—to pursue diverse career opportunities in this field.

Analyze

The world of fragrance is deeply connected to chemical mechanisms, whose understanding is essential for mastering both the creation and commercialization processes. The teaching approach at the École Supérieure du Parfum & de la Cosmétique ensures an in-depth learning of these mechanisms while making them accessible to all those with sufficient curiosity and motivation, regardless of their prior scientific background.
The Grande École program is open to students with scientific, economic and social, literary (with a mathematics option), or technological (STL, STI, STAV) high school diplomas.

Sense and Express

Developing olfactory sensitivity is, of course, a fundamental part of the training.
This involves extensive practice in recognizing essential raw materials, as well as exposure to other sensory experiences such as oenology and taste analysis.
Finally, students must be able to articulate these experiences in a clear, multilingual discourse enriched with aesthetic and industry-specific references.

Create

Mastering the mechanisms of fragrance creation is at the heart of the curriculum, particularly during the third and fourth years of study. Chemistry plays a central role, requiring students to integrate laboratory constraints and essential environmental safety considerations.
However, creation extends beyond the perfume itself—it also encompasses elements such as visual identity, packaging, and overall brand storytelling.

Manage

The creative process cannot be separated from an understanding of marketing and commercial constraints, which are at the core of the luxury industry. These concepts are essential to ensuring the successful professional integration of our students.
The École Supérieure du Parfum aims to train true managers, capable of adapting to all segments of the fragrance industry.
